Hidden wonders deep beneath the earth bubble to the surface at Dr. Wilkinson’s Backyard Resort and Hot Springs. For decades, Calistoga has been home to natural underground hot springs brimming with health-giving minerals like zinc, magnesium, calcium, and more. Jon “the Doc” Wilkinson tapped into this wellness miracle at the resort, which uses our own underground geothermal well to feed our three mineral pools, fill our spa baths, and heat our spa steam room, offering guests the opportunity to soak in the myriad health benefits of the waters. The mineral water is also mixed with Calistoga’s world-renowned volcanic ash (according to the Doc’s original recipe) to create the miraculous mud used in our mud bath spa treatments.

Soothe yourself in our natural waters. Our underground hot springs are unique to the Calistoga area and heat our three geothermal mineral pools. These pools contain mineral waters enriched with sulfur, zinc, magnesium, calcium, and bromine – the ideal combination for detoxification, relaxation, and rejuvenation of your body and mind.
Mineral Baths
Take on the world with an intensely cleansing mineral bath. Choose from our varied menu of infusions from Doc’s exclusive recipes encompassing Epsom sea salts, rock salts, grape skins, seeds and oils – even fresh hops, malt and barley. Enjoy an exfoliating facial mask, a steam room session, warm blanket wrap and more. What a day.
Spa Garden
Enter our Spa Garden after an exhilarating mineral soak, mud bath, massage, or any of Doc’s treatments. Lounge in our Zen-like outdoor space with couches, hanging egg chairs, and a chic fire pit. Socialize with guests or just listen to the quiet and take in the moment. The Spa Garden is adjacent to our indoor mineral pool area where spa guests can enhance their experience with a whirlpool bath or a peaceful cabana massage. The space is just right, and the feeling is even better.
